PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silicon-containing composite material excellent in heat resistance and oxidation resistance by blending a specific silicon-containing polymer with a specific silicon-containing alkoxy compound in a specific content ratio, followed by gelation. SOLUTION: The objective composite material is obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. silicon-containing polymer having a repeating unit of the formula [wherein R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-30C alkyl or alkenyl or the like; R3 is a 1-30C alkylene or alkenylene or the like; (m) is 0 or 1] with (B) 0.01-10,000 pts.wt. (preferably 0.1-1,000 pts.wt.) silicon-containing alkoxy compound of the formula R4nSi(OR5)4-n [wherein R4 is H, a 1-30C alkyl or alkenyl or the like; R5 is a 1-30C alkyl or alkenyl or the like; (n) is 0 or 1-3], if needed, in the presence of a solvent, followed by gelation preferably at 0-200 deg.C for 1-100 h. A silicon-containing inorganic material consisting of Si, C and O is obtained by burning the composite material under a reduced pressure or in an inert gas at 700-3,500 deg.C. |
