PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a necessary energy absorbing characteristic regardless of the collision angle of an occupant to protect the head of the occupant by connecting a pipe-like energy absorber having a hollow sectional profile to a center pillar part through a connection part, and providing an energy absorbing space between it and a panel. SOLUTION: An energy absorber 15 constituting a center pillar is integrally manufactured by aluminum extrusion molding, and it comprises lateral pipe-like energy absorbing bodies 15a and 15b having hollow sectional profiles and a connection part 15c. When the head of an occupant is collided obliquely to the center pillar, the energy absorber 15 is deformed to absorb the energy. When the head of the occupant is collided vertically to the center pillar, projection parts 16a and 16b are laterally extended to move the energy absorber 15 in the direction of a panel 12 without being crushed, and an upper seat belt fixing anchor 13 is deformed to absorb the energy. According to this, the energy can be ideally absorbed.
