PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new human endoplasmic reticulum protein SERP1 which has a specific amino acid sequence, is involved in functional maintenance and improvement of cells after ischaemia, promotes presentation of viral antigen, and can be used for analyzing functions of cells after ischaemia. SOLUTION: This is a new human endoplasmic reticulum protein SERP1 which has the amino acid sequence shown by the formula, is induced by endoplasmic reticulum stress, is involved in functional maintenance and improvement of cells after ischaemia, promotes presentation of viral antigen, and is useful for analyzing functions of cells after ischaemia and elucidating various conditions such as ischaemia from the viewpoint of proteolysis. This new protein is obtained by putting an astroglia derived from the cerebral cortex of a rat embryo in an oxygen-deficient environment, preparing cDNA from RNA from cells which were given the stress and RNA from normal cells, performing the differential display, cloning a gene coding for a protein which was expressed under the stress condition, followed by expressing a human gene obtained from the information. |
