<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of a belt member by operating a drive means to drive the belt member with the belt member sucked to a surface thereof by a suction means. SOLUTION: A suction hole 36a positioned at a part that is not in contact with a belt member (carrying belt) 4 is closed with a closing member 60 to thereby eliminate loss of negative pressure for maintaining a proper negative pressure vale, resulting that a drive means (drive roller) 36 can suck the belt surely. While a sheet 6 is carried, the belt 4 sucks the sheets at its upper surface and circulationwise moves against resistant forces of various members brought into contact with the belt 4. At this time, a hollow part 36b of the roller 36 is helt in a negative state by a suction means (suction pump) 62, and in association therewith, the roller 36 rotates while sucking the belt 4 by the aid of the negative pressure generating in the holes 36.</p> |
