PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively perform cooling operation by detecting the liquid state of a surge tank being connected to the suction side of a compact compressor by an oil level sensor, and by changing flow during a refrigerating cycle by a switching valve so that the surge tank with a large amount of a liquid refrigerant is connected to a discharge side, and the surge tank with the small amount of liquid refrigerant is connected to the suction side. SOLUTION: An oil level sensor 36 is provided at the suction side of a compact compressor, and refrigerant liquid is detected by the oil level sensor 36, thus judging which of a plurality of surge tanks 24A and 24B is nearly filled with a liquid refrigerant. When one of the surge tanks 24A and 24B is filled with the liquid refrigerant, it is estimated that the liquid refrigerant in the other is decreased, a switching valve 33 is changed, and the liquid refrigerant is subjected to force feeding from the surge tank 24A or 24B with the large amount of liquid refrigerant to a utilization-side heat exchanger 9, thus continuously and securely allowing the liquid refrigerant in the surge tanks 24A and 24B to be subjected to force feeding to the utilization-side heat exchanger 9, and hence carrying out cooling operation utilizing the chill of ice in an ice storing heat tank 6. |
