PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acaricide having sufficient acaricidal activities against acarids, having high safety to a human body, and easy to use by including a specified alkylalkanolamide as an acaricidal ingredient. SOLUTION: This acaricide contains an alkylalkanolamide of the formula R1 is a 1-21C alkyl; R2 is a 1-21C oxyalkyl or the like; R3 is H, a 1-12C oxyalkyl or the like) as an acaricidal ingredient. The alkylalkanolamide of the formula is preferably diethanolamide of lauric acid, diethanolamide of a fatty acid of a coconut oil, or a polyoxyethylenemonoethanolamide of the fatty acid of the coconut oil. The acaricide is preferably formed into a solution comprising 0.1-70 wt.% alkylalkanolamide of the formula, 0-99.9 wt.% alcohol and 0-99.9% water, and used in a shape of an acaricidal spray. As a result, the acaricide having high safety to a human body, and hardly generating odor at the time of use.
