The component forms a closed ring cell for incorporation in a modular or multi-storey structure, as a threefold statically indeterminate system with peripheral rigid reinforcement, forming a segment of a rectangular tubular structural unit as in 2229540. Floor and ceiling slabs are of equal thickness, and the walls are of even thickness, without edge reinforcement, in the cross-section parallel to the main cell axis. The low stilt feet run parallel to the main axis across the depth of the cell, and pref. are of the same thickness as the side walls, forming an extension of these. Cells may be assembled side by side, and/or one above another, with a foot-height gap between the ceiling slab of one storey and the floor above, for easy insertion of sound and heat insulation.
