PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the life of a thermal head by improving a wear resistance of the thermal head. SOLUTION: A heating section 12 is markedly worn when a width (s) of a wear-resistance layer 18 at a position (n) where the thickness of the wear- resistance layer 18 becomes zero is smaller than a width of a part which is abraded by a paper on the heating section 12. However, when the width (s) of the wear-resistance layer 18 at the position (n) is too wide, the wear resistance property is not improved and the printing quality is lowered. Therefore, the width (s) of the wear-resistance layer 18 is set in a range that both the printing quality and wear resistance property are not lowered but harmonized. As the width (s) of the wear resistance property at the position (n) is set to be not less than the width of the part which is abraded by the paper on the heating section 12 in a range that the printing quality is not lowered, it is possible to effectively suppress the wear of the heating section 12 without lowering the printing quality.
