PURPOSE:To store contour line data with a smaller storage capacity by storing information instructing the combination of horizontal and vertical lines and information of lengths and directions in the particular shapes of a part of contour line data of characters. CONSTITUTION:CPU 12 consists of a data reading part 32, a data restoring part 34 for restoring the compressed contour line data and an outline coverting part 36 for converting outline data to dot data. Dot data obtained from the outline converting part 36 are stored in a dot data memory 22 and the outline data such as the compressed characters and signs are stored in a character ROM 14. The compression of contour line data to the combined shapes of the horizontal and vertical lines of the contour line data of characters in a character ROM 14 is performed. |
