SEARCH INFORMATION GENERATION METHOD FOR RECORDED DIGITAL DATA STREAM AND SEARCH METHOD AND DEVICE USING THE GENERATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately search a received data stream and the data recorded on a recording medium such as a video disk without using extra information. SOLUTION: A data stream is partitioned by a recording unit body and also recorded, and the time information to be searched is also recorded. A desired recording position is searched by means of the time information. The time information on the data stream is recorded in the same format as a time format of the management information and defined as the arrival lower rank time of the data stream in a search operation mode. The time information is also compensated and accurately calculated against a start position of the recording unit body set by the insufficient resolution of the search information that is displayed as an increment of the fixed unit time. Thus, a user can quickly and accurately search his/her desired reproducing position without using the different additional information showing the difference between the start position of the recording unit body and the position that is designated by the arrival time increment information that accesses the recording unit body.
