摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive controller for a rolling stock which can be designed with a high gear ratio by reducing the cross sections of the teeth of each gear by scatteringly reducing the torque to be shared by each pinion and can be reduced in size, weight, and cost by increasing the rotating speed of a motor. SOLUTION: A drive controller for a rolling stock scatteringly reduces the torque to be shared by each pinion by meshing two or more pinions 121-124 with a gear wheel 11 directly coupled with an axle 10 and supplying electricity to AC motors 131-134 respectively directly coupled with the pinions 121-124 from inverter devices 141-144 respectively connected to the motors 131-134. In addition, the input DC voltage of each inverter is lowered to that of a general-purpose inverter by feeding electric power from a high-voltage overhead line by connecting the DC input terminals of the inverters in series and the occurrence of harmonic-induced faults is reduced so that mass-produced general- purpose inverters may be used for the inverter devices 141-144.
