PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a television receiver capable of preventing degradation of image quality when a still image and a pseudo moving image are displayed as at least one of a multi-screen and displaying the multi-screen with high image quality. SOLUTION: A multi-screen video signal to form the multi-screen by synthesizing at least two video signals as interlace signals is outputted by a multi-screen processing circuit 80. The multi-screen video signal is converted into a progressive signal by a scanning line converting circuit 90. When the still image and the pseudo moving image are displayed as at least one screen of the multi- screen, scanning line conversion by the scanning line converting circuit 90 is performed by interpolation in field.
