摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a capacity of a memory by storing only an offset address with respect to an initial address to an offset address storage means for each code length to generate a Huffman coding decoding address thereby efficiently storing the address information to the memory. SOLUTION: Huffman code length word number storage means 102, 106,..., 108 for a DC luminance component store information in several bits denoting number of Huffman codes belonging to each code length. An adder means 103 adds number of words 5 stored in the storage means 107 by an adder means 104 to an output value 1 that is a sum of number of words 0 and 1 respectively stored in the storage means 102 and 106 to obtain a sum 6. Similarly the accumulated sums are outputted from each adder means. A sum output selection means 120 gives an output signal 124 resulting from selecting an optional accumulated sum output on the basis of a code length 127 from a code length specific signal generating means 118 and of the accumulated sums to an adder means 121, where an offset of an offset output selection means 119 is added to the signal 124, and the sum is given to a memory circuit 122.</p>
