SOLUTION: This image reader A is provided with the lens arrays 1 and 1A for forming the image of a read object area S on plural photodetectors 54 by converging light advancing from the read object area S in a line shape and the respective lenses 12 of the lens arrays 1 and 1A are provided with a first surface 12a closer to the read object area S than the plural photodetectors 54 and a second surface 12b closer to the plural photodetectors 54 than the read object area S. It is provided with a first light guide means 2A for guiding the light from the read object area S so as to make it be incident on the respective lenses 12 from the second surface 12b and a second light guide means 2B for guiding the light passed through the respective lenses 12 and emitted from the first surface 12a to the plural photodetectors 54.
