PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an effective space of a heating chamber to be enlarged and to enable an object to be heated highly efficiently. SOLUTION: In this high frequency heating device, a rectangular waveguide 5 for transferring a high frequency sent from a high frequency generator 3 to a heating chamber 2 is disposed under the heating chamber 2. A feeding opening 6 as a border between the heating chamber 2 and the waveguide 5 is provided in the center of the bottom of the heating chamber 2. In the waveguide 5, a metal piece 8 having a side of quarter wavelength or more is disposed under the feeding opening 6. Thereby, the high frequency sent by a high frequency sending means concentrates the high frequency energy due to an antenna effect of the metal piece 8 disposed in the waveguide 5 so that the high frequency energy can be radiated directly to the object just above or near the metal piece 8 to be absorbed in the heated product. Thus, energy losses can be substantially reduced.
