PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the privacy of a user in a fingerprint authentication system. SOLUTION: A fingerprint detecting part 1 is arranged so as to have a part of itself exposed to outside the door, optically reads the fingerprint of a user or a user fingerprint recorded on a fingerprint registration card 3 to convert it into an image signal and outputs it to an image processing part 4. A card mounting part 2 is arranged inside the door and holds the card 3 at a prescribed position. The card 3, on which the fingerprint of the user is preliminarily stamped, is mounted on the part 2 only at the time of being locked.
