PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate illumination spot quantitatively by detecting maximum and minimum values from a data based on the luminance in a partial detection region and deciding presence of an illumination spot in the detection region due to an illumination means based on the difference. SOLUTION: The illuminance spot evaluator comprises a CCD camera and a CPU and illumination means 300, 301 are disposed in-parallel with one side of a rectangular detection region in which a uniform same color matter, preferably a white sheet, is arranged. For a detection region illuminated by the illumination means 300, 301, the CCD camera detects the illuminance data on a line 410 for each pixel and the CPU extracts maximum and minimum values from a data thus obtained and calculates the difference. If it is lower than a difference value preset for the line 410, a decision is made that no illuminance spot of the illumination means 300, 301 is present on the line 410. Other lines 411 in the detection region are evaluated similarly.
