PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a useless image display state and to efficiently reduce the power consumption by providing a control means reducingly displaying an image to be displayed on a partial part of a display area provided in a display device, or stopping a display when a person is not sensed by a sensor means for a prescribed time. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 5 makes a video processing part 6 and a voice processing part 7 move to a power save mode when the person is not sensed in front of a screen 2 for a prescribed time based on an input signal from a sensor 1 and a timer 4. The video processing part 6 is provided with a function displaying the display area by using the whole display picture of the screen 2, the function reducing the luminance of the display picture and the function contraction displaying the display area on the partial part of the screen 2, etc. Then, whenever a prescribed time elapses by timer count processing, the operation of an image display device is controlled gradually, and finally, a source is turned off automatically. Further, when the person is sensed on the way of the control, the control is returned to a standard picture display at that time.
