PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: Tp shorten the processing time of a command having possibility of performing alternation processing by having no first defect and second defect in a unit record region of a spare zone providing a list making means making a list of an address in a unit record region being not yet used, based on reproduced data from a defect address recording zone. SOLUTION: A CPU 11 makes a spare list in which addresses of all unit record region of a magneto-optical disk are described, and stores it in a RAM 12. Successively, the CPU 11 examines whether an address of first defect is registered in a place specified by an access pointer of address assembly of the first defect or not. It is judged whether a defect address is a spare address specified by an access pointer of a spare list or less or not. When it is a spare address or less, an access pointer is renewed, when the first defect does not exist, second defect is examined in the same way, and a spare list is updated.
