PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a human body detection device where an illumination load is not wastefully lighted even if a man is detected and the incident light quantity is temporarily dropped. SOLUTION: An infrared ray sensor part 11 outputs a human body detection signal when the existence of a man in a detection area is detected. A blind period T1 limited from time when brightness detected by a brightness sensor part 12 becomes lower than a lower threshold VL is set in a judgment processing part 13. When the infrared ray sensor part 11 detects the man while a period when brightness is lower than an upper threshold VH continues after the blind period T1 after it becomes lower than the lower threshold VL, the judgment processing part, 13 lights an illumination load 2 and a state where the illumination load 2 is put out is kept regardless of the presence or absence of the detection of the man by the infrared ray sensor part 11 during the blind period T1.
