PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fixing device capable of reducing the time and labor for maintenance and surely removing adhesion substance or the like at the contact part a fixing rotating body and a measuring means for measuring the temperature of the surface of the fixing rotating body by making the measuring means abut on the fixing rotating body through a film member. SOLUTION: A halogen lamp (heating means) 10 is provided in the hollow part of a heating roll 1. When an unfixed toner image T held on a recording sheet P passes through a nip part between the roll 1 and a pressuring roll 2, it is fixed by the action of the heat and the pressure of the rolls 1 and 2. A temperature sensor (measuring means) 3 abuts on the roll 1 through the film 5 at the 1st abutting part. Either end of the film 5 is held by a film driving roll 61 and the other end is held by a film driven roll 62. Driving force from a film driving motor 60 is transmitted to the roll 61 and the film 5 is gradually taken up and moved at a specified speed.
