IP COMMUNICATION METHOD IN ATM NETWORK, ATM COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preferentially set the ATM short cut path of important communication and to secure the communication quality of important communication by executing communication by means of the short cut path when prescribed IP communication satisfies a prescribed condition for the request of IP communication. SOLUTION: In ATM communication equipment 30, an IP frame reception part 32 transfers IP data to a path dividing processing part 34 when it receives IP data. The path dividing processing part 34 refers to a short cut path management table 36 and checks whether the communication of IP data satisfies a condition for setting the short cut path or not. When the short cut path is to be set, an ATM short cut path processing part 40 sets the direct connection of ATM with other ATM communication equipment and executes communication by the ATM short cut path. When it is not to be set, an IP forwarding processing part 38 performs IP data communication via a default route.
