PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device that is suitable for the imaging of the chest or the chest region of a specimen by making the central axis of a loop-type coil parallel with the direction of the main magnetic field of a magnetic resonance imaging device of a vertical magnetic field system. SOLUTION: A main static magnetic field generation magnet 20 is arranged in space for surrounding a specimen 10 and gives a uniform, strong vertical magnetic field to the specimen 10. The output of an inclination magnetic field generation unit 40 forms three inclined magnetic fields corresponding to each of X, Y, and Z directions that orthogonally cross one another. A nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) signal from the specimen 10 is picked up by an RF coil 61 and then is detected by a high-frequency reception unit 60. A control unit 90 adjusts timing, the application of an inclined magnetic field, and the transmission and reception of an RF signal to RF coils 51 and 61. NMR signal output from the high-frequency reception unit 60 is stored, and at the same time is subjected to Fourier transform processing, thus obtaining image information for displaying on a display device 80.
