PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a white spot-like abnormal image from being caused on a half-tone image by preventing an electrifying brush roller from being soiled with time by pulverized toner or toner additive, for example, silica being easy to get through a cleaning blade because the grain diameter thereof is small. SOLUTION: Before an image forming process is shifted to the next image forming process after a series of image forming processes is finished, the supply action of voltage to the electrifying brush roller 2 is stopped as long as time required for rotating the roller 2 one or more times. Then, the next image forming process is started after prescribed time elapses. As the result, electrostatic force by which particulates are attracted to the brush of the roller 2 is eliminated. When the roller 2 is rotated one or more times on this condition, the particulates attached to the roller 2 is mechanically scraped while the roller 2 is brought into contact with a photoreceptor 1.
