<p>The invention relates to a new method for reducing the costs for electrodes of polymer electrolyte fuel cells, also for direct methanol fuel cells. Said method is characterized in that the catalyst for the electrochemical reaction is either partially or completely removed from the catalytically active layer, namely from the areas underneath the fuel channels if fuel or oxidation agent transport across the diffusion layer is good, or from the areas underneath the conductive webs if fuel or oxidation agent transport across the diffusion layer is bad.</p> |
