PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data preparation method, a signal conversion method and an image processor by which the conversion precision near a point showing an input signal to a unit cube in a three-dimensional color space and the connection to the unit cube adjacent to the point are improved. SOLUTION: The color compensation processing part 14a of a color printer turns an input color image signal supplied to an input buffer part 140a to an input point, judges the positional relation of the input point to a boundary area in a boundary judgment function part 104b and makes the conversion value of a grating point and a weight coefficient used for the calculation of the conversion value at two intersections be respectively supplied from a three- dimensional LUT 140c and a weight coefficient storage part 140d to a color compensation processing function part 140e based on the judgment. An interpolation processing is executed in either one of an input range processing part 1400e and a boundary area processing part 1402e based on the respectively read values, conversion to the color image of appropriate output is performed and the capacity of the weight coefficient is reduced as well. Smooth color conversion is performed and processing time is shortened.
