A PVAt cleaning sponge roller capable of enhancing durability without compromising a cleaning performance, the cleaning sponge roller (1) being constituted of a polyvinylacetal porous material having an elasticity in a wet condition, having a generally cylindrical roll body (3) and a plurality of protrusions (5) formed integrally on the outer peripheral surface (3a) of the roll body (3), and being adapted to clean an object with the tops (5a) of the protrusions (5) in a rotating contact with the object. The protrusions (5) each have a tapering projection base (11) extending from the outer peripheral surface (3a) of the roll body (3) and a projection end (13) having a generally equal sectional shape from the tip face (11b) of the projection base (11) to the top (5a).
