<p>A lock (100) and a method for manufacturing the lock (100). The lock (100) comprises a shell (102) having an interior cavity (104), a plug (108) receiv ed in the interior cavity (104) rotatably and axially slidably therein and defining a keyway (114) configured to receive a preselected key (116), and a tumbler (122) insertable in the plug (108). The tumbler (122) has a plug portion disposed at a first axial location within the plug and resiliently biased outwardly toward a locked radial position and associated with the keyway (114) such that said preselected key (116) inserted in the keyway (11 4) locates the tumbler (122) in an unlock position and a shell portion disposed at a second axial location in the shell (102) wherein the second axial location is axially spaced from the first axial location. The shell (102), t he plug (108) and the tumblers (122) are configured such that the tumblers (122 ) are sheared between the plug (108) and the shell (102) when the plug (108) a nd the shell (102) are forced axially toward each other.</p> |
