PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily adjust dyeing concentration by forming a hardening coating of a water soluble polymer that is soluble in water-based medium on the surface of an optical plastic lens, by dyeing it with water-based stain solution, and after the dyeing, by washing and removing the water soluble polymer remaining on the surface of the optical plastic lens. SOLUTION: A hardening coating of a water soluble polymer is formed on the surface of an optical plastic lens to be dyed. As an example of the water soluble polymer, polyvinyl alcohol or polyethyleneglycol is preferred. Dying is performed using water-based stain solution containing disperse dye as a coloring component. The optical plastic lens having stain solution on its surface is heated and treated to diffuse the disperse dye in the stain solution in the lens. Because, after the heating, the water soluble polymer and the disperse dye that has not diffused in the lens remain on the surface of the plastic lens, washing treatment, especially ultrasonic cleaning in water is preferable for removing them. |
