PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery using a molybdenum multiple sulfide as an active material of a positive electrode or a negative electrode, and having good charging/discharging characteristics. SOLUTION: An active material of either a positive electrode or a negative electrode is a multiple sulfide expressed by a composition formula, MXMo1-X SY (in the formula, M is at least one kind of element selected from among a group comprising Cu, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Ti, Y, Cd, In, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, W, Pt, Pb, Ca, Sr, and Ba, and 0<X<0.46 and 1.5<=Y<=2.0 are satisfied) and having the same crystalline structure as MoS2 or Mo2S3, or a material made up by including lithium in the multiple sulfide. |
