PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect always properly the termination of the old information recorded on an information recording medium. SOLUTION: This information recorder is constituted so that a synchronizing pattern is detected from an old information reproduction signal by a synchronizing pattern detecting circuit 1 to convert the reproduced signal to data of 8 bit unit, and by an ID error detecting circuit 6, the ID and the ID information error correcting code are detected for the error detection from each datum of 8 bit unit and sector address data in the ID are extracted and outputted with an error flag A resulted from the error detection, and a prepit signal is made the data of 8 bit unit and outputted, and the error of prepit data is detected by a prepit error detecting circuit 8 to output ECC block address data together with an error flag B, and the count value displaying the sector address is counted by a 3rd counter 5 to judge the error flags A and B, then the process for setting the address to the 3rd counter 5 is carried out by an address selecting circuit 9 to detect the termination of the old information in accordance with the detected sector address and a sync frame.
