IMPROVED GAS IGNITER

The present invention relates to an improved gas igniter for igniting gas flames in appliances, such as domestic and commercial ovens, water heaters and boilers. Conventional gas igniters are usually assembled using adhesives to keep the various components together. The present invention discloses an igniter which can be mechanically assembled without the use of any adhesive. An elongate electrode provides a "skeleton" to which an insulating body and a mounting member can be fitted. A projection on the electrode maintains the electrode within the mounting member and an extruded insulating element provides the insulation.
