PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely grasp equipment existing in a system by obtaining other equipment information, which is connected to a network to which router equipment is connected directly, or this equipment application information to response in corresponding with a request from other equipment. SOLUTION: When router equipment 12 receives a message, a receiving part starts router processing, confirms whether or not the message is addressed to its own subnet and confirms whether or not an inquiring content concerns the kind of equipment with respect to equipment 6. Since this content is included in an equipment information table held by oneself and can be responseded alternatively, the kind of the equipment 6 is read and responding data is prepared to request transmission. A transmission part obtains the low-order address of equipment 3 of a transmission destination, prepares a prescribed message and requests transmission to a low-order protocol processing part, and transmits a responding message to the equipment 3. The equipment 3 receive-processes the responding message in a prescribed procedure and returns the kind of the equipment 6 to a transmission source application.
