PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wrong fitting between a different pair of optical connectors by mounting a wrong fitting preventing key to the engagement side, and mounting a wrong fitting preventing key corresponding to the preventing key on the fitting side to the optical connector fixed to the other substrate. SOLUTION: A mounting portion 25 capable of mounting a wrong fitting preventing key is provided in substantially center of the front part of a male- side optical connector 1. Three holes 26 for mounting the wrong fitting preventing key are provided in the mounting portion 25. Of these holes, two holes 26a provided substantially faced to each other, into which projections provided at facing positions on the wrong fitting preventing key are inserted, are used for fixing the wrong fitting preventing key to the male-side optical connector. By inserting three projections into these three holes in a state that they are faced to each other, the key can be fixed to the male-side optical connector 1 in the right direction. Thereafter, fixing of the key in a wrong direction can be prevented.
