PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate a transmission characteristic when an optical signal processor is inserted at a specified distance by conducting a characteristic test of an optical signal transmitted through a circular loop transmission path into which the optical signal processor is inserted with the switch of the optical path by an optical path switch test means. SOLUTION: The characteristic test of an optical signal transmitted through a circular loop transmission path into which an optical signal processor is inserted is conducted by a switch of an optical path by an optical path switch test means. The test device is formed of an optical branching unit 41 branching the optical signal transmitted through a circular loop transmission path 20 to two optical paths, optical signal processors 42-1 and 42-2 inserted into the optical paths and a 2×1 optical switch 43 selecting one of the two optical paths.
