PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a level coincide with sampled urine and allow accurate measurement by adding buffer solution containing a chlorine ion with equal concentration to the urine when the sampled urine is transported to a measuring means. SOLUTION: In a urine sugar sensor, for setting a potential of an action electrode 135 relative to a reference electrode 133 to a constant positive value, current flows between a counter electrode 137 and the action electrode 135. By detecting this, a generation amount of hydrogen peroxide for changing the current is detected, and based on the glucose concentration in urine can be calculated. At this time, a chlorine ion in the transported urine unstabilizes a potential of the reference electrode 133, and changes current value flowing between the action electrode 135 and the counter electrode 137, and the ion concentration in the urine is not constant. Therefore, sampled urine is diluted with buffer liquid added with KCl or NaCl coinciding with an average chloride ion concentration existing in the urine. Thus, chloride ion concentration of solution in contact with the reference electrode 133 is equalized to the ion concentration of the buffer liquid, reference potential fluctuation of the reference electrode 133 is minimized, and therefore, stable measurement is allowed.
