PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of hardly generating image processing errors due to the shortage of the free storage area of a storage means for storing a divided compressed image data group and efficiently processing images in the image processor capable of compressing and diving image data and storing them in the storage means. SOLUTION: A central arithmetic processing unit 401 tentatively restores the divided compressed image data group divided and stored in a storage memory 506a, executes an image processing, and then at the time of compressing and dividing them and storing them in the storage memory 506a again, when a free area is insufficient, uses the area where the divided compressed image data group before executing the image processing is stored as well and evades the interruption of a processing due to the shortage of the free area as much as possible.
