PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for monitoring a transmission line that can separate a fault of a subscriber's device from a fault of an optical transmission line independently of a state of a power supply of the subscriber's device. SOLUTION: The transmission line monitor system has a 1st optical multiplexing means 70 that optically multiplexes an outgoing data signal with a 1st wavelength with a test signal with a 2nd wavelength and transmits the resulting signal to a subordinate device, a 1st optical demultilexer means 200 that receives a signal sent to the subordinate device and optically demultiplexes the signal into the outgoing data signal with the 1st wavelength and the test signal with the 2nd wavelength, a 2nd optical multiplex means 270 that optically multiplexes an incoming data signal with the 1st wavelength with the test signal with the 2nd wavelength received from the 1st optical demultiplexer means 200 and transmits the resulting signal to a host device, a 2nd optical demultiplexer 90 that receives the signal sent to the host device and optically demultiplexes the signal into the incoming data signal with the 1st wavelength and the test signal with the 2nd wavelength and monitor means 120, 130 that monitor the occurrence of a fault and a fault occurrence location based on the test signal with the 2nd wavelength. |
