PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplifier for stable operation, by using a light source of 980 nm band as an excitation light source, as bidirectional excitation, and amplifying the signal light with an erbium-dope fiber. SOLUTION: Bidirectional excitation is employed wherein excitation LD modules 1 and 2 are arranged on the signal light input side (front) and the signal light output side (rear) of an erbium-doped fiber(EDF). Here, as an excitation light source of the excitation LD modules 1 and 2 arranged on both sides, the light source of wavelength band within an effective wavelength range of an erbium-doped fiber(EDF) 5 is employed while the central wavelengths of both excitation light sources are away from each other at least by 1-10 nm. |
