PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for executing image processing for downsampling in a DCT area by catching an image in a color-filtered array form, executing gamma correction for the image and interpolating the color-filtered array of the gamma corrected image. SOLUTION: On a first step for storing an image of high quality in a digital still camera(DSC) system, intensity distribution reflected from a scene is mapped on an imager by image capture. Relating to imager, respective pixels are masked by color filters. The raw imager data are called as a color filtered array(CFA). Both of a display device for displaying an image and a printer for printing out the image have non-linear mapping between an image gray value and practical pixel intensity. Preferable DSC gamma correction 320 compensates a CCD image and executes control for final display/printing. In addition, the gamma correction 320 smoothly compensates the image by using a CFA interpolation filter in succeeding CFA interpolation 330.
