PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a discontinuous point of time code information, to automatically divide reproducing data and to record the data. SOLUTION: The recorder is provided with a time code reading means 104, which reads time code information 117 in reproduced data 114, a time code predicting means 105, which corrects the information 117 with the magnification of a reproducing speed and to generate corrected time code information 118, a frame delaying means 106, which delays the information 118, a comparison means 107, which compares the information 117 with the information 118, a discontinuous point detecting means 108, which outputs a discontinuous point detection signal 120 if the information 117 does not coincide with the information 118, and a data accumulating means 109 which divides the data 114 if the signal 120 is outputted.
