PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat developable photosensitive material exhibiting good reproducibility of an image and excellent picture quality with which an image of high Dmax and ultrahigh contrast can be obtained, by incorporating organic silver salts, silver halides, a reducing agent and a specified compound. SOLUTION: This heat developable photosensitive material having one or more photosensitive layers contains organic silver salts, silver halides, a reducing agent and a compound expressed by the formula. In the formula, R1 is an aliphatic group, aromatic hydrocarbon group or the like, R2 is a hydrogen atom, alkyl group or the like, G1 is -CO-, -SO2- or the like, each of A1 and A2 is a hydrogen atom, alkylsulfonyl group, arylsulfonyl group or acyl group, and A1 and A2 are both hydrogen atoms or one of them is a hydrogen atom and the other is an alkylsulfonyl group, arylsulfonyl group or acyl group, and R3 is a group selected from the groups represented by R2 and may be the same as or different from R2. However, the compound has at least one isothioureide group in the molecule.
