PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a very small fingerprint recognition system by forming a sensor circuit for sampling a fingerprint, a recognizing circuit and a fingerprint memory on the same integrated circuit. SOLUTION: The sensor circuit 102 for sampling a fingerprint is formed on an integrated circuit chip and the recognizing circuit 104 for recognizing read data and the fingerprint memory 103 to be the sample of a fingerprint to be recognized are formed on the same chip. In a pixel unit 101 arranged in the shape of a matrix to constitute a pixel unit array, the sensor circuit 102 outputs prescribed data by processing the output of a sensor element 102a, for which ruggedness caused by the fingerprint of a touch finger is converted to an electric signal, with a sensor part 102b, and detects the shape of the fingerprint. The recognizing circuit 104 collates the fingerprint data detected by the sensor circuit 102 with fingerprint data registered in the fingerprint memory 103. A control circuit (integrated device) 111 controls the respective pixel units 101 and sums up the recognized results.
