PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device controller using a network by which a device to be controlled is not controlled even when the controller transmits an erroneous control command to the device to be controlled so as to prevent a defect due to the erroneous command. SOLUTION: A control device 1 is connected to a network 2, and a set top box 30 converts a protocol of a control command from the control device 1. A device to be controlled 4 is controlled by the control command whose protocol is converted. A status confirmation section 33 confirms a status of the device to be controlled 4. When the device to be controlled 4 is confirmed to have a prescribed status and the device to be controlled 4 is set to the prescribed status, a control section 34 invalidates a control command in the case that the control command is preset not to control the device to be controlled 4.
