PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit both compressed image and voice data to a PC and also to prevent missing of these data. SOLUTION: A digital camera 10 includes a microcomputer 26, and a JPEG CODEC 22 compresses the image data by an instruction of the microcomputer 26. Meanwhile, the voice data related to the image data are compressed by the microcomputer 26 and in a time base compression system. These compressed image and voice data are recorded on a memory 24. When the quantity of data stored in the memory 24 reaches 90% of the memory capacity, the microcomputer 26 establishes a protocol with a PC 38. Then both compressed image and voice data recorded on the memory 24 are collectively sent to the PC 38 via a telephone circuit 44 and then stored on a hard disk 38a.
