PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To judge whether or not all compression encoded image data can be stored in a memory before they are stored into the memory and to promptly deal with an image processing. SOLUTION: This image processor is provided with a decision means 212 for deciding the attribute information of respective blocks composed of the prescribed number of pixels, a compression encoding means 215 for encoding the respective blocks to a bit number decided by the kind of the attribute information, a counting means 216 for counting the attribute information for the respective kinds, a judgment means 290 for judging whether or not a total code amount can be stored in the memory based on a counted result, a resolution switching means 218 and a selective storage means 230 for storing compression codes in the memory in the case that the total code amount can be stored in the memory and for storing the image data switched to a low resolution in the memory in the case that it cannot be stored.
