PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly recognize a port size by generating more than one kind of size acknowledgement signal to be sent back to a master unit according to a transfer acknowledgement signal and the port size. SOLUTION: The master unit 1 is connected to a slave unit 2 of a 32-bit port, a slave unit 3 of a 16-bit port, and slave units 4 to 19 of an 8-bit port through an address bus B1 and a data bus B2. Then the master unit 1 sends a transfer acknowledgement signal S3 for bus cycles and size acknowledgement signals DSACK1 and DSACK0 showing pieces S1 and S2 of port size information back to the respective slave units 2 to 19 by an acknowledgement generation part 22. Consequently, the pieces S1 and S2 of port size information can correctly be recognized.
