PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fiber damage by eliminating the contact between fibers at the time of connection and disconnection and to reduce connection loss by diminishing a gap between the fibers. SOLUTION: This device is constituted by fixing optical fibers 4 respectively in a parallel state onto plural positioning grooves 3 of an optical fiber array 2, disposing a holding arm 10 movable in this parallel direction, holding another optical fibers 11 at this holding arm 10 and seating another optical fibers 11 on the positioning grooves 3 by the turning operation of the holding arm 10, thereby selectively butt connecting these optical fibers to the optical fibers 4 on a stationary side. The turning center O of the holding arm 10 is offset to the bottom side of the positioning grooves 3 with respect to the central line C of the optical fibers 4 on the stationary side. Another optical fibers 11 are butt connected to the optical fibers 4 on the stationary side before the optical fibers project maxially in the central line C direction of the optical fibers 4 on the stationary side. |
