PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a decrease in operation frequency and to secure character input by setting one character input candidate of a character map by pressing keys of a ten-key which correspond to character map coordinates once respectively. SOLUTION: To input a character 'ko' in KANA (Japanese syllabary), a user recognizes a key '2' and presses the key '2' corresponding to a row. At the bottom part of a display part 4, the five characters of the row corresponding to the key are displayed. A character string is so displayed that 'ka' corresponds to 1 and 'ki' corresponds to 2. This display serves to guide the user to recognize to which one a character input candidate of a ten-key (h) corresponds at the time of character input operation. Then the user views this guide display to easily know that a key '5' needs to be pressed next to input 'ko' and once the key '5' is touched, the character input candidate is set to 'ko' at the display part 4. Thus, keys of the ten-key 4h corresponding to character map coordinates are operated only once to decrease the key operation frequency.
