The method involves converting the output signal from a sensor (111) into a sequence of time-spaced signal pulses, whose separation corresponds to the instantaneous measurement value. A pulse sequence is generated which is specific to the parameter being measured. The pulse sequence may be an n-bit code word. The number of bits in the code word can be set as required. An Independent claim is included for an apparatus for wireless transmission of measurement values.
